Art Challenge: Textured Paper
Journal Prompt: I’m So Not Feeling It!
Trying to decide on where to go with a prompt like “I’m So Not Feeling It!” was harder than I thought. To try and gain some inspiration, I gathered some of my papers that are textured. I got two old wall paper pages, a handmade paper, and a couple from the paper sample books I have. I was trying to think of the laziest way to put them down, then thought, it would be funny to frame them. When I go to museums, I usually just look at the art itself. I don’t really like stopping to read all the fine print about the artist and how it was made and their life story. I go to art museums to look at the art for what it is to me. So I thought it would be fun to turn these textured pieces of paper into fine art for viewing.
I used three different brown chalk pastels and a yellow to quickly lay down some color in the background. I was hoping it would look like wood.
I cut my textured papers into different sized squares and glued them down with Mod Podge. I took my Pitt Big Brush Artist Pen and drew frames around all the squares.
I then used a white pen to color in the frames to lighten them up and took a brown thin sharpie and scribbled to color the frames in.
Each square has a little white plaque with scribbled words to represent how I don’t usually feel like reading them.
