Art Challenge: Stitching
Journal Prompt: “All that I’m after is life full of laughter.”
For this one, I thought about dragging my sewing machine out and sort of stitch collaging on different types of my fabrics I have, but then I didn’t want to bring it all out and have to put it all away. Then I was thinking and thinking and above my head, I have a box filled with teddy bear fabric and teddy bear parts already cut out. I picked some pieces out that build a bear and thought I’d kind of show the process in a way. For my background I modge podged some geli papers then painted them all white. I took a baby wipe and wiped off some areas. While it was all drying, I hand stitched the body, a leg and an arm half way. I stitched these through the journal page to attach them. I left the thread long so I could modge podge it down to the page. It’s hard to see the stitching on the limbs. I had hoped they’d be more pronounced. I modge podged a head piece and two ear pieces to the opposite side and also attached some more thread to fill in the space. This was kind of a fun little walk down memory lane when I used to be obsessed with making teddy bears.
