Journal Prompt:  The Fabric of Your Life

This was too fun! As soon as I read, “The fabric of your life” I thought of the Cotton tv commerical. My next thought, PANTIES! I wrote across the whole two page spread “the fabric of your life” in Neo Colors then got a big brush wet and went over the whole thing. While that dried, I looked through my fabric scraps and picked two patterns. I cut them into panty shapes. I glued them down with modge podge and started looking for a way to embellish them. I dug through my ribbon container and found some lace and trim. I tried to modge podge them on, but it was difficult as some of the ribbons and trims wanted to keep sticking up and do their own thing. I just ordered a heat tool and thought this would be a great time to try it out! I held the lace on place smeared with modge podge with a paint brush end and turned on the heat tool. Man those suckers are hot! With some of the ribbons, the heat tool melted the ribbons a little. This seemed to work a little faster than just letting them dry on their own. I think if I do something like this next time, I would probably just hot glue the ribbons and lace down. When all the panties were dry and done, I didn’t like how bright the words in the background were so I used some cheap white acrylic paint and went over all the backgrounds to lighten up the words. I added the pink boarder with my fingers and the pink Dylusions paint. I like the messy effect of using your finger to rub the paint into the surface of the pages. When it dried, I scribbled a loose wiggly boarder with my Pitt big brush artist pen then painted while acrylic around all the edges. Lastly I found this cute quote, “Wear fabulous underwear, even if you are the only person who is going to see them.” Totally true! Underwear should be fun! I think this turned out pretty dang cute!
