Art Challenge: Gelli Plate
Journal Prompt: A lot on my Plate
I liked Sandee’s idea on doing foods for this challenge but then I couldn’t think of what foods I would want to put on a plate. Since I’ve been trying to eat healthier, I kind of thought of doing a play on the whole My Plate thing. When I pack food for myself for lunch and when it’s dinner time, I try to fill half my plate with some kind of vegetables, usually sauteed zucchini and bell peppers. About two thirds of the other half, I try to fill with meat, like ground turkey or chicken breast. Then a small third of some kind of grain like quinoa or brown rice. Trying to stay away from dairy and I eat my fruit as snacks during the day. I artistically followed the colors associated with the food groups, green for veggies, purple for meat, and orange for grains. Those areas I cut from deli paper I had previously done on my geli plate. I used stickers to write the food groups. The background is just water colors. I used pinks, reds, oranges, and yellows. I had a fun circle geli paper so I added a napkin and a fork for fun. I feel I went a little easy on this one, but I do like it. It’s simple, and that’s okay.
